Autumn Camp Reminder letter of 1/10/05
Greetings.
What I have always sought and enjoyed at Mayflower and other camps is the sharing of being amidst the ordinariness of life.
What do I mean sharing of being?
Usually, the experience of what I speak is dressed in exotic terms and portrayed as an exciting or worthy goal - as if one could gain or attain it via some process or other.
It can find you in courses and workshops, amidst the methods and mores of whatever forms are offered.
It can find you naked or dressed in robes or top shop clothes. But it is ultimately you letting life be Itself through you and depends on no externally applied form or method or way to Be what it is and you are.
Identity - who we identify as - is part and parcel of how we experience the world. We can shift from being conflicted, defensively dense, demanding and compelled, to alert, peaceful, shared and spacious.
Growing presence of mind enables choice to become active where before ran a program from the past.
Every experience - no matter how fleeting - of greater being that we allow, will grow the capacity in life to be present in our lives, our relationships, and our work.
Yet this capacity is not an act of will but an acquiescence of will. This is what we tend to forget when we get involved in our business and our family roles. We have to stop and listen.
Life becomes a struggle of varying degrees of ok or not ok ness. But unless we take the space and time to open into being, we will not realize the beauty and wonder of being alive that is our birthright and not our achievement - and is actually ours to share. Not sharing this we deprive ourselves and then lament the darkness!
Sharing is how we strengthen. We are always sharing or teaching by demonstration. What we teach is what we are choosing to learn.
When two or more gather in a willingness to learn and grow in life there will always be a spirit or presence that guides. Our very life comes not of our own doing and we are none of us an island yet we often teach the very opposite of both - and reinforce that learning by the perceptions and responses we invite.
Our camps are 'may flower'. There are no guarantees but that the spirit in which you and I participate brings to you and I the experience that is the fruit of your intent.
I love to live with my friends in this living circle, I cant tell you how happy I am to cast off cares and be at home in the presence that recognises the beloved in random moments of kindness and beauty.
In this I invite you to come and participate in the camp within your self at the same time as with the wind and trees, mist and stars, smoke and tiny little spiders - and stuff like that.
This is addressed to the one who is waking up. If it has come to you in error please forward or delete as appropriate.
it has become appropriate for me at least to become more open about the spiritual malaise of our times and the human conditioning, and about the spiritual wellbeing that remains presently available to us just beyond the scope of our conditioned mind.
Why?
Because incongruency costs more than I am willing to pay and so I just have to trust into life and go with it!
I will be 50 on the week before the camp. but then again I wont.
It doesn't look like I will be having a gathering anyplace else so I will bring my birthday suit to wear for the 50 yr old - and clap with one hand for that which is not born and does not die.
In Peace
Brian
PS. I have taken www.livingcircle.net as my circle dance website name.
I have a resource page there to aid living song, music and dance as an expression of the circle of life.
I can also set up an email address for you that you could use regardless of your ISP - if you would like @livingcircle.net as your email address.
I can also do the same for any other domain name if you wanted such as mail@domainnameofmychoice.net
